BEGINNING VIOLIN

CYMG’s Beginning Strings classes are for children under 14 who are experiencing their instrument for the very first time. Fall semester focuses on learning to hold the instrument correctly, developing professional form, reading music, and preparing pieces for a winter concert. Spring semester continues with more difficult pieces and new techniques, culminating in a spring concert. Classes are limited to 8 students per class such that students will receive proper personal attention. ALL are welcome in this class! No previous experience necessary.

Classes meet at Arroyo Seco Museum Science Magnet Elementary School

TRAINING ENSEMBLE

CYMG’s Training Ensemble is for string players under the age of 14 who have graduated from Beginning Violin or Beginning Cello, or for newcomers at the same level. This class is split into orchestra parts, thus giving students an introduction to ensemble playing and plenty of practice reading music. Training Ensemble will perform in a winter and spring concert in addition to possible community performances throughout the year. Class placement is by audition/invitation only.

Classes meet at a private home in the Mt. Washington area.

APPRENTICE ENSEMBLE

CYMG Apprentice Ensemble is for string players under the age of 14 who have auditioned with the required repertoire and been selected.  Class placement is by audition/invitation only.

Classes meet at a private home in the Mt. Washington area.

**NEW  CYMG VIOLIN STUDENTS HAVE A $10 FEE for their CYMG t-shirt, which is required for our community service performances.**

ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SEMESTER-END CONCERTS

This is the chance for your child to experience the power they hold to express themselves through music! We want all children in our program to have this experience, and this is one of the best places where you can support them.

Students may be eligible for discounted tuition and/or instrument rental depending on financial need. CYMG Financial Aid Application and supporting documents must be submitted at least ONE WEEK prior to the first day of class.
