Our chamber groups are the hallmark of the CYMG program, as they are the main ambassadors of CYMG. Our Chamber Groups Program is open to intermediate to advanced students with at least 3 years of experience. Students are placed in chamber groups (small ensembles) based on instrumentation and ability level as demonstrated through an audition or playing sample.
Chamber Groups are coached by our professional teaching artists. Students will strengthen their skills and build confidence as they are responsible for learning their own parts while developing their small ensemble playing skills. They will play a variety of repertoire and be provided with numerous opportunities to perform for the community. Past performances include: Huntington Library Members’ Holiday Event, Freedom Writers Foundation documentary screening, St. Michael’s School Fundraiser, Mt. Washington School Save the Arts Fundraiser, Kingsley Manor assisted living Holiday Recital, and several fancy weddings at the LA Athletic Club, Alexandria Ballrooms, and Biltmore Hotel!
Placement Auditions: By appointment OR send a link to a video of the student performing one major scale, one minor scale, and a 2-3 minute solo piece to president@cymg.org.
We are currently recruiting middle and high school violin, viola, cello, and piano players for all levels!
Ensembles are formed based on instrumentation, skill level, and schedule availability. Rehearsals are 90 minutes once a week and cost only $30 per class.
Please register first, and we will contact you regarding scheduling.
Semester-end concerts and one community service performance per semester are mandatory.
*Students may be eligible for discounted tuition and/or instrument rental depending on financial need. CYMG Financial Aid Application and supporting documents must be submitted prior to the first day of class.
